Bill Buchman, Ecology of Light, 2023. Acrylic and oil stick on canvas, 52 × 72 in.

This is the last week of Infinite Oasis. Bill Buchman’s first New York solo brings sixty years of drawing, printmaking and painting into one room, from an etching he pulled at Cornell in 1965 to canvases finished this year.

Bill calls the recent paintings Visual Jazz: color struck down in blocks, and a line in oil stick improvising across it. In the room, at full scale, you feel the rhythm flowing on the canvas. If you haven’t come by yet, this is the week.

Elizabeth Johnson

Dream Gap

November 12 – December 5, 2026

Elizabeth Johnson, Dream Gap, 2026, oil on canvas, 30 × 36 in

Elizabeth Johnson, Dream Gap, 2026. Oil on canvas, 30 × 36 in

Elizabeth Johnson starts from pictures: fields, houses, faces, ships, animals, water. She photographs them, warps them on the computer, prints them out, and paints from the wreckage. On the canvas the fragments never settle into one scene. A picture splits open, and its pieces take turns coming forward, the way a dream stays familiar for a second after you wake and then slips away.

The newest paintings come out of caring for her mother, who had dementia for twelve years. They carry, in her words, “feelings of loss and relief.”

Dream Gap is Elizabeth’s first solo exhibition in New York. It brings these new canvases together with paintings from 2021 on.
